The Bewitching Bag of Gold

The Bewitching Bag of Gold

In a quaint village, two childhood friends embarked on a journey to the city in search of employment. Packed with essentials and fueled by aspirations, they set out, encountering a monk along the way. The monk, distressed and breathless, warned them of a witch in the forest ahead, urging them to turn back.

Undeterred, the friends continued their journey, determined to reach the city. As they entered the dense forest, they discovered a bag of gold coins. Excitement and greed filled their hearts as they envisioned a life of luxury. Mocking the monk for his fear, they decided to share the fortune equally.

However, as hunger struck, a sinister thought crept into the mind of one friend. What if he could keep all the gold for himself? The allure of wealth clouded his judgment, and he devised a plan to kill his companion. Finding a sharp weapon by the river, he concealed it, plotting to seize the entire treasure.

Seizing an opportune moment, the treacherous friend attacked from behind, fatally injuring his companion. Believing himself victorious, he sat down to eat the prepared meal. To his horror, he discovered that his friend had poisoned the food in anticipation of betrayal.

Within moments, the treacherous friend succumbed to the poison, lying lifeless beside his betrayed companion. The bag of gold, the very witch they sought, remained untouched.

The monk's warning proved prophetic: the bag of gold became a bewitching force, leading to the tragic demise of both friends.

Learning: The story serves as a cautionary tale about the deceptive allure of wealth and the potential destruction it can wreak on relationships. It reminds us to prioritize genuine connections over material pursuits and not let the pursuit of money become a destructive force in our lives.
