Kitchen is an area in dwelling that is used to keep, prepare and cook food and it also involves other related activities such as washing dishes. In a social context, the kitchen is a favorite space for sharing, talking and laughing. It is symbolically the heart of a home and has evolved from ancient times until now. At times the kitchen also is also used for dining and making sure the area is clean and functional.
Vastu Shastra for Kitchen
Kitchen has to be placed in the southeast direction of a house because it is occupied by Agni-the Lord of Fire. In the worst case scenario, you can position it in the north-west direction but not encouraged. It is expected to have at least one window or the best is two windows in the kitchen and they should always face east. According to Vastu Shastra, Venus is the ruling planet of Kitchen and its should not be positioned under or above the following places:
- Pooja room
- Toilet
- Bedroom
If possible, face east while cooking and the layout of the kitchen should be accordingly also
- North - Sink, drinking water and related utensils, entrance door, refrigerator, light utensils
- Northeast - Sink, drinking water and related utensils
- East - Main kitchen platform, entrance door, windows or air vents
- Southeast - Main kitchen platform, stove or gas burner (a few inches far from the wall), refrigerator
- South - Electrical appliance such as microwave oven, mixer, grinder and etc., refrigerator
- Southwest -NA
- West - Entrance door, windows or air vents, dining table, refrigerator
- Northwest - Dining table
