SHIVA is known as "The Destroyer" within the Trimurti, the Hindu trinity that includes Brahma and Vishnu. In Shaivism tradition, SHIVA is one of the supreme beings who creates, protects and transforms the universe.
SHIVA sits high atop his mountain domain of Kailash on a tiger skin , holding a trident, a drum and a water vessel (kamandalu) with his right hand held up in the Abhaya mudra or "fear not" hand position granting all his devotees his divine protection.
SHIVA has a cobra wrapped around his neck, cobras are associated with SHIVA as even the deadliest of creatures revere Shiva as their Lord. The river goddess, Ganga, flows from his hair in a spout.
