The symbol of YIN YANG is called TAIJITU. Mostly recognized in the west as the YINYANG symbol still whereas TAIJITU is prevalent in many other cultures and over the years has come to be symbolic for TAOISM.
YIN means the shady side and YANG means the sunny side. YIN YANG is the concept of duality forming a whole.
YIN and YANG two parts of a whole, are starting point for change. When something is whole, its unchanging and complete. When split in halves YIN/YANG it disturbs the equilibrium of wholeness. Both halves are chasing after each other as they seek a new balance to become whole.
